Hi, I’m Dr Kelsey O’Reilly

I am a Consultant Clinical Psychologist. I have worked as a psychological therapist in the NHS for over 10 years, and set up Breastfeeding Psychology after my own challenging experiences with feeding my two children. I was inspired to combine my expertise in evidence-based psychological therapies and my commitment to helping mums who are struggling with the emotional aspects of their breastfeeding experiences.

I am a passionate supporter of a woman’s right to choose what she does with her body and how she feeds her baby, and am pro-feeding choices and support, rather than pro-breastfeeding. However, I have met so many mums, both personally and professionally, who haven’t had the support they desperately needed when they have struggled with breastfeeding. And I understand the legacy that can leave of trauma, grief, feeling a failure, feeling let down, angry or anxious. Those close to us can sometimes not understand and expect us to move on, and when this doesn’t feel possible, we can then feel alone and not good enough.

At Breastfeeding Psychology, my colleagues and I understand what it is like to be a mum trying to feed her baby. We are also experienced Clinical Psychologists and can help you to better understand your emotional distress and to move forwards with your baby to process and heal from your experiences.

I have a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Oxford and have completed further training in Enhanced Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, EMDR, Compassion Focused Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, reference PYL37308 and have demonstrated the high standards of CBT practice and training required to be accredited with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP Reference 00001027358).

Our Team

Hello, I’m a Clinical Psychologist with over a decade of experience working in mental health services. I am passionate about supporting women with difficulties related to breastfeeding and the emotional demands of becoming a parent.

My interest in this area grew from my own struggles with feeding as a new mum. I subsequently completed a specialist perinatal mental health placement and conducted research exploring the experiences of new mothers. Alongside my own experiences of motherhood, this has given me a deep understanding of the challenges women can face and the therapeutic skills to support them through feeding concerns and the transition to parenthood.

I recognise that every parent and family has their own unique story, and I tailor my approach to your individual needs and values. I draw on a range of evidence-based therapies, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. My work is also informed by systemic and narrative approaches, meaning I consider the wider relationships, experiences, and contexts that shape how we understand ourselves and our difficulties.

I aim to provide a safe, warm, and non-judgemental space where you can explore your experiences, make sense of difficult thoughts and emotions, and develop practical ways of moving forward with greater confidence and self-compassion.

I hold a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Universities of Coventry and Warwick and am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (registration number PYL043724).

Dr Adele Mackintosh

Hi, I’m Dr Adele Mackintosh

I am a Principal Clinical Psychologist with nine years of experience as an applied psychologist working in the NHS, now specialising in supporting mothers who have struggled with breastfeeding, difficult pregnancies, and the complexities of the postpartum period. Having experienced challenging pregnancies with my own children and facing my own unique struggles with breastfeeding, I know firsthand how overwhelming, isolating, and emotionally exhausting this chapter can be. I am dedicated to providing a compassionate, non-judgemental space where you feel completely heard and validated.

Above all, I work with parents entirely as individuals. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to postpartum healing or feeding journeys. Instead, we will work collaboratively to set therapeutic goals that are aligned with your unique values, family circumstances, and personal preferences. Together, we will focus on helping you process difficult or traumatic experiences, manage emotional distress, reduce guilt, and move forward with confidence, self-compassion, and healing.

I draw on a range of evidence-based approaches, namely Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, and have had further training in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy based skills.

I hold an MSc Psychological Therapy in Primary Care from the Universities of Dundee and Stirling and hold a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Edinburgh. I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (registration number PYL040942).

Hi, I'm Mollie-Eve. I have been a Psychological therapist in the NHS for seven years working with people with a range of complex mental health problems. Prior to this I have across the private sector in addiction services, including supporting parents through the emotional challenges of ongoing child protection cases.

Following the premature birth of my son I experienced my own complex feeding journey. I was lucky to receive incredible practical and emotional support from IBCLCs but through my professional knowledge and experience was aware of the psychological impact this was having and the time, space and therapeutic tools I needed to process this. As a result, I became passionate about all things maternal mental health and was inspired to combine this experience with my expertise in evidence-based psychological therapies. Whether directly through feeding difficulties or other life changing shifts that occur in adjusting to parenthood I believe that every parent deserves to have a space where they feel understood and held; in the choices you make because you want to, those you felt you had to and all of the in-betweens.

I have a Postgraduate diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from the University of Hertfordshire and use this approach alongside Compassion Focused Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment therapy and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy based skills training. I also have a Masters degree in Addiction Psychology and Counselling from London South Bank University.

I am registered and accredited with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP Reference 1001795)

I look forward to supporting you through your journey of parenthood.

Mollie-Eve Blampied
